Half-term Badminton Camps – February 2018

KEEP playing badminton over the February 2018 Half-term.

February 2018Just because it is half-term you don’t have to stop playing badminton or training for the sport you love. West Midlands Performance Centre is running what promises (as always) to be another successful badminton camp over the Feburary 2018 half-term.

In the meantime, provisional dates are in place for Easter, Whitsun and the Annual Summer training camp. Take a look HERE and put them in your diary. You do not want to miss these.

An amazing season!

As the main badminton season nears an end the WMPC has real cause to celebrate.

Top amongst the many achievements of our players were: England representative honours for Nicola Gresty, Asmita Chaudhari and Kiara Henry, with others knocking on the door, Ryan Quek playing in qualifying at the All England Badminton Championships (badminton’s version of Wimbledon), Joe Ball winning the Silver medal in Boys Doubles at the Under 13 National Championships (we are hoping for more medals in the nationals shortly).

Amazing seasonOur medal count for the season is now approaching 50 (wow!) and we have recently been recognised by Badminton England as one of the leading Performance Centres nationally. Special congratulations to our medallists: Asmita, Chris M, Chris W, Joe B, Joe E, Elizabeth, Joshmyn, Kiara, Khushi, Lorenzo, Matthew, Megan, Rob, Selena, Simran, Victoria. This only comes will lots of hard work and lots of training hours each week.

Many of our players have represented their counties this season, including taking part in the prestigious Inter-County Under 17 Tournament (ICT) over 4-days recently at Nottingham University. those not already mentioned who have played for their county are Katie, Rhea, Sam, Toby and Zak.

Now we wish for our success to continue as we aim to become the leading performance centre in the country. Please spread the word that the West Midlands PC really is an amazing place to train, with world class coaching right on the doorstep.

You can always check out the details over the summer season the PC are running a couple of BE tournaments and there will also be the notorious Summer Camp on August. Keep checking the website for details.

Autumn training

WMPC release the Autumn training dates for the half-term.

After the success of the Summer training camps at the University of Birmingham, Head Coach Lorraine Cole and Stephanie Cartwright-Randle, are determined to continue the popular coaching sessions, with Autumn training in the half-term. Each session is three hours long and will cover a variety of shots, footwork, drills, skills and of course a few games. Full details of dates and booking forms can be found on the website under EVENTS.

Under 15 Bronze Tournament – URGENT REMINDER

Don’ forget the WMPC (West Midlands Performance Centre) hosts the Under 15 Bronze Tournament on 12 January 2013. It is at The Doug Ellis Sports College, Birmingham City University (Full details HERE).
URGENT – DEADLINE is 22 December 2012.
Your entry needs to be with Irene Williams (details HERE), before the deadline.
The draw will appear online approximately 48 hours prior to the tournament.

Under 15 Bronze – Entry DEADLINE

West Midlands Performance Centre are hosting an Under 15 Bronze Tournament on 12 January 2013 at The Doug Ellis SC, Birmingham City University (Full details HERE). Please note the DEADLINE is 22 December 2012. Make sure you get your entries in to Irene Williams (details HERE), before the deadline.
