Sunday 28th June 2015 – Annual Awards Evening

AwardsThis awards evening is where players from all the PC groups get together. This years event will be help at the University of Birmingham in ‘Raising the Bar’ cafe at the Munrow Centre.

The evening is where players for each group have opportunity to receive awards in the following categories, Best Attender (Male and Female), Hardest Worker and Most Improved player.

Last Year saw Ryan Quek receive the Player of the Year award but this year, one deserving player will receive an award for Outstanding Achievements. Coaches select the appropriate players from each group to receive both a trophy and a certificate for each category.

Parents and players also get together as teams and participate in a Quiz for fun, suitable for all ages. A raffle will be held, along with a few planned surprises.

Tickets are priced are £2 for entry only and £5 for entry and food. A bar will also be available.

Leaks cause wet floors – Rain stops play

Leaks from the roof causes problems for the PC……!

The University of Birmingham have been having problems with leaks in the new gym, sports hall recently. Paul White (Liaison Officer for the PC) is warning parents not to just ‘ Drop’ their kids off at training tomorrow (Saturday 19 October).Leaks - Rain stops play

Parents are urged to check their emails before they set off to the Munrow Centre at the Uni. They make also be sure to come into the sports hall just incase the leaks  have not been fixed and the hall is not usable. The Uni staff are hoping to fix the leaks before the training session . The Uni staff will email Paul to confirm courts ok early doors. Then parents will be contacted hopefully before they set off.

Tournaments – Schedule dates are out

All members of the Performance Centre are expected to support our hosted tournaments by entering the relevant event. Details of all the tournaments hosted by the Performance Centre can be found HERE. Head coach Lorraine Cole, recommends all players that are serious about improving their badminton performance enter competitions as often as they can.

The events are open to any badminton player that wants to play competitive badminton and is looking to improve their standard of play. More information about the events can be found on the EVENTS page. All relevant details and entry forms can be found HERE.

Alan Spink of Action Photography a supporter and sponsor of West Midlands Performance Centre had kindly supplied new action photographs. These images came ‘made to measure’ all ready for use as page headers.

Now that the exams are nearly over the second half of the Summer term sees the Performance Centre back to normal training sessions. For some it has been a long break. Others might have spent the summer half term revising for those exams.

Under 15 Bronze Tournament – UPDATE

UpdatedThe Under 15 Bronze Tournament details have been updated to contain the Acceptance Lists for both the BOYS and the GIRLS. The Under 15 Bronze Tournament is this Saturday 12 January and is hosted by the West Midlands Performance Centre. Held at the Doug Ellis Sports Centre, Birmingham City University, B42 2SY. Don’ forget the WMPC (West Midlands Performance Centre) hosts the Under 15 Bronze Tournament on 12 January 2013. It is at The Doug Ellis Sports College, Birmingham City University (Full details HERE).

The draw will appear online approximately 48 hours prior to the tournament.

After almost three weeks of to-ing and frow-ing with the old hosting company the domain name etc has now been moved and hosting by Mad Computer Solutions. I must say a very helpful bunch of lads, nothing was a problem, everything you needed they would advise and follow up for you. What more could you want?
