West Midlands Summer 2019 Badminton Camp booking forms are now available. it will all be done on-line (fingers crossed all goes well).

So 12 days of badminton through August 2019. Three days a week for four hours a day. Lorraine Cole, Julia Quinn (nee Mann) will be writing the program for each day. Then of course delivering it to those that book on.

There are deadlines in place so unfortunately NO late comers and once the tickets are gone…. They will be gone.

Summer Camp 2018 – Week 3

The first two weeks of the Summer Camp 2018, held at the Sport and Fitness Centre, University of Birmingham, not only have they flown past but they have also been a massive success. Kristian Roebuck in week 1, along with Julia Mann. Lorraine Cole was overseeing all of the sessions. Week 2, Lorraine and Dave Prior ran the sessions. Week 3 of the Summer Camp 2018 sees Fontaine Chapman (recently married so now Wright), taking grip of the situation hopefully smashing it.Julia Mann is back along with Lorraine Cole.

To date between 34 and 39 players have taken to court most days of the Summer Camp 2018. Most sessions see at least 6 coaches in the room giving the players help and advise on techniques, movement, tactics.  With still two weeks to go if you are luck and don’t want to miss out there are still a couple of places left. Who’s excited about the Summer Camp?

With just over a week to go players and coaches are getting excited about the Summer Camp. Some players are travelling from west of the country Wales and east of the country Norfolk to attend the West Midlands Performance Centre annual Summer Camp.

SIX weeksGuess coaches are lined up to for three out of the four weeks, each bringing their own individual skills and knowledge for the sessions they are running. So each week will be different. Although the sessions will cover singles, doubles movement and tactics, there will of course be technical training for techniques. At the end of the day players will walk away with better skill and techniques and more knowledge.

All this is hosted at the fabulous Sport and Fitness Centre, University of Birmingham, B15 7TT. Fabulous facilities and the main hall has 12 badminton courts.

Excitement is rising with 10 days to go. Although the deadline hascome and gone there are odd places left.

Whitsun 2018 – Badminton Camp

Keep your badminton up over this Whitsun 2018 break!

The West Midlands Performance Centre are hosting their holiday badminton camps over Whitsun 2018. Again this is where players for all levels from beginners, intermediate, county players and international players come together under one roof to train hard. Training us under the watchful eyes of two former England players Lorraine Cole and Julia Mann. The badminton camp is hosted at the Sport and Fitness Centre, University of Birmingham. Four hours per day three days over Whitsun half-term.

West Midlands Performance Centre are hosting their annual four week programme for badminton players. This year the WMPC have invited a guest coaches varying the sessions delivery some.
All details including days, dates and times can be found HERE. The four week  programme is looking crammed full of badminton ‘stuff’ to help you improve your game. With footwork to music, ‘S and C’ (strength and conditioning) and nutritional information for the die-hard players. Of course there are badminton routines, techniques, skills, tactics and games both singles and doubles for all.

Badminton players book your summer Camp?

Summer camp details are now released so players book your place quick!

Long awaited dates for the West Midlands Performance Centre summer camp are HERE.

The WMPC summer 2015 camp aims to provide value training for a full month to prepare  players for the season ahead. Details HERE.

The camp will provide players with quality training and knowledge for the player’s relevant level and above. It is also devised to build up levels of the players fitness. Sessions not only develop their fitness but also their strength, efficiency and power.

Players will cultivate their movement around court, refine their shot techniques and learn and increase their tactical knowledge of singles and doubles.
Some sessions will be in the dance studio to develop their flow of movement to music. These are fun sessions but, also very physical. Skills are practised and incorporated into routines. Obviously players will participate in some match play to re-enforce any new tactics.

Finally player have lots of fun.

Summer Camps Nearly Full

With the Summer Camps being a big smash with the participants most of the remaining sessions are Full. The West Midlands PC urge those players who are interested to book ASAP to avoid disappointment. Once the session is full your name will be added to the waiting list.

Players have traveled from as far as Coventry, Leicester, Derby and even Norfolk. After the session the coaches give participants feedback on what areas to work on to help the player improve.

Summer Badminton Camp – Are you up for it?

Summer camp

West Midlands Performance Centre is running a Summer Badminton Camp for for weeks during August. As you know the badminton season runs September to April with a long break over the Summer. After the success of last years summer camp the PC are running another one.

This years camp is bigger and better. Guest coach Steve Butler (Ex-International player – Warwickshire coach) will taking sessions, along with Lorraine Cole, James Lauder and Stephanie Cartwright-Randle.

The camp is devised to build up the level of fitness starting with week 1 and tapering down the physical element as we approach week 4 which is the build up to the start of the season.
Though the groups players will develop their movement, technique, skills, fitness, strength, efficiency, power and tactics for both singles and doubles over the 4 week program. The program icludes sessions in the dance studio to develop movement skills to music ( fun session but also very physical). Skills will be practiced some will be incorporated into routines, along with match play developing tactics.
