I have always been a sporty person. I participated in many sports through childhood and still regularly play football, golf, tennis and my main sport badminton. If I’m not playing sport, I’ll often be found watching it somewhere! I’m a laid back person and like to work hard but have a laugh at the same time.
I attended university for four years gaining BA and MSc qualifications. I had a great time studying at the University of Birmingham for my undergraduate degree in Sport, Physical Education and Coaching Science and I completed my Master’s degree at the University of Chester in Exercise and Nutrition Science. I chose to study the above topics to follow up my interest in sport and learn about how the body works, how to improve performance and how to increase and maintain health and fitness. I am grateful of completing these study topics as I can now work doing what I enjoy; improving people’s health and performance, whatever their goals may be.
I have played badminton since I was a junior. I have been a Staffordshire county badminton player through and through from the U13 age group and to the county 1st team that I have represented for numerous years now. I competed internationally as a junior and I still occasionally compete in the National circuit. I frequently engage in my own training in attempt to maintain my standard and keep fit. Alongside playing badminton, I enjoy coaching badminton too. I am a Level 2 badminton coach and have participated in coaching for 4-5 years working with a range of abilities across the Midlands.
I have worked in the sport and fitness environment with great enjoyment in previous years. I am currently employed as a fitness instructor, exercise referral specialist and as a lecturer in sports. I have gained great experience from these roles and I am very happy to help those that want help. I am approachable and friendly and always make sure I work in an enjoyable environment.
