All members of the Performance Centre are expected to support our hosted tournaments by entering the relevant event. Details of all the tournaments hosted by the Performance Centre can be found HERE. Head coach Lorraine Cole, recommends all players that are serious about improving their badminton performance enter competitions as often as they can.

The events are open to any badminton player that wants to play competitive badminton and is looking to improve their standard of play. More information about the events can be found on the EVENTS page. All relevant details and entry forms can be found HERE.

Under 15 Bronze Tournament – UPDATE

UpdatedThe Under 15 Bronze Tournament details have been updated to contain the Acceptance Lists for both the BOYS and the GIRLS. The Under 15 Bronze Tournament is this Saturday 12 January and is hosted by the West Midlands Performance Centre. Held at the Doug Ellis Sports Centre, Birmingham City University, B42 2SY. The website is back…..!

After almost three weeks of to-ing and frow-ing with the old hosting company the domain name etc has now been moved and hosting by Mad Computer Solutions. I must say a very helpful bunch of lads, nothing was a problem, everything you needed they would advise and follow up for you. What more could you want?

BISI Festival Winners – Win badminton coaching prize.

West Midlands Performance Centre in conjunction with Badminton England organised a BISI festival in Birmingham to coincide with the Yonex All England Championships 2012. The participating school visited the NIA to spectate. The went to the Doug Ellis Sports Centre where 9 schools took part in the festival. The team names consisted of ‘players names’ seeing ‘Donna Kellogg’ George Dixon International School, triumph with a convincing 1518 points. Second place saw a close battle between ‘Jenny Wallwork’ Ninestiles School and ‘Nathan Robertson’ Smiths Wood College with only 15 points difference. See HERE for full details. George Dixon has won a Badminton Coaching session for the school as the prize. This will be delivered by Stephanie Cartwright-Randle – Development Officer for the PC.

And the winners are ……….?

The boys singles ran very smoothly, despite several contestants not turning up on the day. With the fantastic volunteers organising the event, time was made up. The boys singles semi-finals produced two worthy finalists. Rob Lowes took an early lead, but Matthew Smith clawed an important 3 points back to give 20-20. The next few rallies were nail-bitingly tease for spectators. Rob Lowes came up thrumps with a 26-24 victory.

Badminton England BRONZE under 17 event being held  in Birmingham welcomes all spectators.

No entrance fee, just loads of good badminton to watch.

It has been a rush creating the new website. The information for the BRONZE Acceptance List needed to be published quickly. So apologies for any inconvenience, especially Vicky Bowater (who has handled all the applications for the tournament and has been inundated with calls regarding the event).  A BIG thank you to Alan Spink of Action Photography who has very kindly supplied the images for the site.
